What Causes High Phosphates in a Pool?
Phosphates can enter pool water from environmental debris, fill water and other sources. Their presence alone does not replace the need for proper sanitizer and water balance, but high phosphate levels can become part of an algae-control problem.
If you suspect high phosphates, test first. Treating without a measurement can waste product and may cloud the water temporarily depending on the remover used.
